Our Story
It all started the summer of 2021. We met through mutual friends, and before we knew it, we were flying back and forth between Portland and San Diego every weekend. Like typical lesbians we moved fast, but we knew this was different. Meleah instantly connected with Harper and knew she wanted to be a part of her life and most importantly, someone she could count on and look up to. Meeting the parents was much the same. The Carbajal family embraced Meleah with open arms, and the Martins wondered what took Meleah so long to find someone like Katelyn. Especially when they learned that Katelyn is a bit of a savant in the kitchen and at the bar. It was her Spanish coffees that sealed the deal leaving everyone wondering when Meleah would pop the question.
We knew quickly that this is how family is supposed to feel, and that this was going to be forever for us. In July of 2022 we traveled to San Diego for a mini vacation before Meleah went off the grid for a couple weeks of training. We strolled down Harbor Drive and talked about the kind of life we saw ourselves committing to. It was then that Meleah, teary eyed and shaking, read Katelyn the sweetest letter explaining the love she has for her and Harper, and how she wants to officially take them off the market. Forever. She then got down on one knee and asked the question every girl dreams of…Katelyn said yes of course, and the rest is history.
We are so excited to celebrate with our closest friends and family in sunny California. We chose 2024 because 2023 is a year of big changes for us. Meleah will be on deployment for about 6 months at the start of the year, and once she is home we will all be moving to Hanford, CA to start the next chapter. We knew 2.22.24 would be the best time to tie the knot in the presence of our family and friends after we settle into our new home.
So mark your calendars, because we can't wait to celebrate with all of you. Cheers!
